Alma Anguiano
Alma Anguiano has been part of McDonald’s, in some form or fashion, for thirty years. As a senior in high school, Anguiano attended a career fair and saw a presentation from a representative of her local McDonald’s restaurant who spoke so highly about the McDonald’s brand, that the high school student waited hours to have a conversation with the presenter. The presenter was so impressed by Anguiano’s persistence and passion that she was hired on the spot.
Alma is currently the US National Field People Officer has succeeded within the company for over three decades. She grew up at McDonald’s professionally, she blossomed there, and she’s now able to be the kind of inspiration to others. “I have stayed at McDonald’s because I am passionate about what I do. Anguiano immigrated to Los Angeles from Colima, Mexico, at a young age. She grew up with a mother whose entrepreneurial spirit was indomitable. Life in the inner city of Los Angeles wasn’t easy. Eventually, her parents were able to move their family to the small farm town of Dinuba, California. The change was hard but welcomed, and Anguiano was able to focus more intently on her studies.
Seven years into her career, Anguiano was running five restaurants, and she thought it might be time to transition somewhere else. Anguiano had an opportunity within the organization itself to continue climbing. And climb she did! As one of the highest-ranking Women at McDonald’s she enthusiastically shares her journey and her wisdom to up and coming leaders. She understands that the torch has been passed. It’s her time to inform the next generation.
Her leadership style is based on: entrepreneurial spirit meeting passion and stewardship. Bridging that gap between the community and the business has helped enable the sourcing of talent who might never have thought a career was possible.

In this capacity she led, taught and provided strategic management to over 50 churches and 47 pastors. She has been with the United Methodist Church for 25 years. Reverend Hopkins is a retired Major (CH) Chaplain from the U.S. army having served over 20 years on active duty and in the reserves. She served proudly in Operation Iraqi Freedom as a trauma chaplain, receiving the Meritorious medal of honor. She is known as a superb inspirational speaker. She was honored to be chosen as part of a group of small business owners invited to meet with the President at the White House. Aliana has hosted several local TV programs and for over 20 years was a featured Business columnist with the El Paso Times. Her column provided advice and guidance to readers on workplace issues. She has been featured in Hispanic Magazine, LatinaStyle Magazine and was named as one of “1000 Women for the Nineties” by Mirabella Magazine. She is a Fellow of the National Hispana Leadership Institute, one of twenty-five women chosen from throughout the United States for outstanding leadership and community service. Active community involvement has been a priority for Aliana. Her civic and professional involvement is at the local, state and national levels. She has served on the Board of Directors of: Latinas 100, Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce; University Medical Center; National Hispana Leadership Institute-Alumni; Texas Workforce Development Network; National Association of Private Industry Councils; Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso, Loretto Academy Board of Trustees; El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Upper Rio Grande Private Industry Council; El Paso Child Guidance, CEDARS—Center for Entrepreneurial Development, Advancement, Research and Support at the University of Texas at El Paso; and is a founding member of the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She is currently serving on the Board of Community En Accion and the Gifford Foundation.
Aliana is also the founder of the Southwest Women’s Leadership Institute and Latinas 100; two organizations dedicated to furthering the leadership capabilities of women and providing them tools for networking and professional development. Her personal style and approach have been warmly received at many conferences where she has appeared with Jane Fonda, Maya Angelou, Sally Field, Gloria Steinem, President Clinton, and Christina Saralegui to name a few.
